Chief Financial Officer

FULL TIME POSITION BASED IN AUSTIN, TX

Muy’Ono Management & Delicious Digital Marketing is seeking exceptional candidates looking for an exciting career as a Chief Financial Officer. You will report directly to the CEO but work collaboratively with, several executives across the business portfolio. This individual will also manage our accounting team in Belize.

As the CFO, you will help solve challenging questions and bring visibility to the operating performance and financial state of the underlying portfolio companies and holdings. The work is in a fast-paced atmosphere that provides unparalleled exposure to unique opportunities. The learning curve can be quite steep at times, but the position will help you develop a broad set of skills and enable you to explore areas that are of interest to you.

You will be responsible for all financial aspects of lines of business including financial performance, strategic planning, and compliance. This position is a member of the executive team representing multiple lines of business and ensures the execution of the business vision and strategies. You will be structuring, creating, and analyzing operational and financial reports for the business portfolio while managing consolidated financials and related documentation. The role will involve heavy analysis and consulting with business leaders for performance improvement. The most likely career path from this position is either into a leadership role in one of the portfolio businesses or an elevated role in overseeing a broader set of family office operations for others.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee all accounting functions: general accounting, cash/AR, payroll, tax, accounts payable, fixed asset, internal and external reporting, control compliance, systems automation, and process improvement
  • Evaluate operating results for costs, revenues, budgets, policies of operation, trends, and increased profit possibilities. Attends meetings to provide committee reports on the monthly and year-to-date business finances.
  • Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
  • Maximizes return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities and maintaining relationships with the investment community.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into new product areas
  • Lead an accounting team of 2 direct reports with managerial oversight of approximately 12 – 15 employees in the US and Belize.
  • Performance management including setting goals and expectations, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and implementing corrective action.
  • Partner with HR to recruit and hire staff.

Business Acumen, Analysis and Consulting:

  • The basics of business and financial analysis:
  • Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision suppor
  • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Detailed cost analysis and identify drivers of performance
  • Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization
  • Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards
  • Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tool
  • Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and valuation comps
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is a basic requirement
  • Demonstrated abilities in analysis and strategic thinking – not just a Google search but a true desire to create thought-provoking insights and rationale
  • Ability to make Excel “hum” – standard projections, analysis, and formulas but bonus for VLOOKUP, INDEX(MATCH) and extreme bonus for those with macro-enabled skills
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
  • Mindset of a business owner – we will be creating business plans and supporting business decisions; how would you feel if this was your business?
  • Effective organization and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills to support client and investor presentations, lead client meetings, etc.
  • Creativity, self-confidence, and flexibility
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, and managers

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Background in Hospitality, specifically hotels/resorts
  • Chartered Financial Analyst Credentialing is a plus
  • Preference for those candidates who have completed advanced Microsoft Excel training
  • Advanced technology and reporting experience with the ability to create queries and reports within existing financial systems
  • Strong academic performance: Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (or a really, really good story)
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Job is based in Austin, TX

Accountant

FULL TIME POSITION BASED IN AUSTIN, TX

Muy’Ono Management, the largest hospitality and resort management company in Belize, is seeking exceptional candidates looking for an exciting career as an Accountant in its Austin office. This role will report directly to the CFO, but will work collaboratively with several executives across the business portfolio, including the CEO. This individual will also help manage
a large accounting team in Belize.

This role will be responsible for handling various general accounting transactions including, but not limited to, Payroll, Accounts Receivable/Invoicing, Accounts Payable, intercompany transactions, clearing accounts and general month-end accounting activities such as journal entry preparation and account reconciliations for global operations. This position will also provide support for key projects, process improvements, system enhancements and implementation.

Responsibilities

● Manage the company’s financial accounts, US payroll, budgets, cash receipts and financial assets
● Maintain accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, daily financial entries, and reconciliations
● Prepare, consolidate, and publish financial statements
● Provide weekly cash flow forecast reports
● Perform financial audits
● Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
● Ensure bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
● Create and distribute client invoices
● Process payments – complete bill pay and wire transactions
● Provide support for financial system implementation
● Support Client Projects for reconciliation, billing, and financial analysis
● Train other team members
● Perform analyses such as investigating variances, providing detail of departmental charges and advising of financial procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

Lucky Reyes

Started Feb 2019 as a Food and Beverage Supervisor at Thatch Caye. He worked his way up to become the Resort Coordinator at The Placencia Resort. From there, he became the manager at Brisa Oceano Resort and is now the General Manager at Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge.
