MUY’ONO HOSPITALITY ASSUMES MANAGEMENT OF HISTORIC JUNGLE LODGE IN BELIZE’S CAYO DISTRICT
Property reimagined as Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge
Cayo, Belize (August 1, 2018) – Muy’Ono Hospitality, a pioneering management firm for resorts and tour operators in Belize, announced today that it has assumed management of duPlooy’s Jungle Lodge outside of San Ignacio. The property will be rebranded as Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge. With the addition of the resort to its portfolio, Muy’Ono now operates seven properties in Belize along with a variety of tour businesses. The firm offers an unrivaled array of vacation experiences in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful and adventurous destinations.
“The name Sweet Songs is in reference to the Cayo District’s majestic environment. The lodge is a calm and serene place where guests can stop time and truly enjoy the idyllic surroundings,” said Cortney Lebens, CEO of Muy’Ono Hospitality. “We are thrilled to bring the lodge into our growing portfolio and look forward to welcoming guests to this exciting part of Belize.”
Nestled along the banks of the winding Macal River, Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge is situated on a 100-acre preserve within the lush Belizean rainforest. The eco-friendly resort has 21 spacious rooms in a combination of private and family-style configurations in a comfortable setting for those seeking a natural respite. For large groups looking to travel together, accommodations include three multi-bedroom houses – the Belize River House, the Garden House and La Casona. For those looking for a romantic escape, couples can hideaway in the Tree House, featuring panoramic views of the grounds and a surrounding garden oasis, or in a private Bungalow with a king-sized bed, outdoor covered terrace and a swinging hammock.
The Canopy Bar at Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge provides guests with enticing local cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all incorporated should guests book the all-inclusive package. Prepared fresh daily and enjoyed overlooking the jungle canopy or in the indoor dining room, travelers can indulge in Belizean favorites throughout the day, including fry jacks, salabutes, garnaches and panades. The rotating menu of dinner options features savory tropical dishes such as potato chaya soup, calypso chicken, coconut shrimp, thyme-lime lamb and moho pork chops.
Next door to Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge, and encompassing 45 acres of native and exotic plants, the Belize Botanic Gardens are a destination in and of themselves. Established in 1997 by Ken and Judy duPlooy, the gardens are an educational resource for the community, government, and science industry. Guests can meander through the gardens on their own, or join a daily tour to learn about sustainable horticulture practices. Highlights include the Native Orchid House, home to more than 100 species of orchids, the Bird Hide overlook, and the Lookout Tower, a 35-foot perch with surrounding views of Belize’s natural beauty.
Guests can enjoy other adventures while staying at the lodge, including canoeing and tubing the Macal River; visiting the nearby Mayan Ruins of Caracol, Xunantunich, Tikal and Cahal Pech; exploring the area’s cave system known as the Maya Underworld; enjoying the countryside via horseback; or venturing into the jungle for a birding excursion.
With the addition of Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge, Muy’Ono Hospitality manages seven properties in Belize, including Belize Ocean Club, Hopkins Bay Resort, Thatch Caye Resort, Copal Tree Lodge, Royal Belize and Ranguana Caye. The company also operates the Ranguana Tropical Island Excursion, as well as Belize Underwater SCUBA and Snorkeling; Blue Horizon Fly Fishing; Deep Blue Boat Charters; and Muy’Ono Adventures, providing land-based tours.
